Have You Tried Going On A 'Fart Walk' After Dinner?

When you start a new diet, two unfortunate things may happen – one being a change in bowel movements, and the other being increased gas. Fear not though, your body will adjust within one to two weeks, so don’t let it deter you from clean eating or more specifically, a high-protein diet, which you need for weight loss!

While there are some measures you can take to prevent protein-induced gas, a new phenomenon has graced the internet – “fart walks”. They might just be the key to relieving gas and bloating.

What Are Fart Walks?

Fart walks are exactly what they sound like — a walk dedicated to relieving yourself of gas. Your walk is to be done after eating a meal and can help to alleviate bloating and discomfort as well. There is, however, a recommended technique to maximise the benefits of your post-meal fart walk.

Fart Walk Technique

A study conducted in Iran advised participants to clasp their hands together behind their back and extend their neck forward as they walk. Having your hands clasped behind your back changes your posture to put more pressure on your abdomen, essentially making it easier to expel gas! Leaning your neck forward minimises how much you swallow air, which is a common culprit behind burping and bloating – this is why we recommend you eat and drink The Lady Shake slowly!

Beneficial For When You're Backed Up

Studies also showed that a fart walk can help with constipation. Participants saw a reduction in straining, softer stools and a more successful evacuation. It also saw individuals with irritable bowel syndrome had less severe symptoms after going for a long walk.

Can I Do It At Home?

Not all of us can get out of the house after we eat, so depending on who’s around, you can go for a walk around the house to alleviate gas, bloating and discomfort. You don’t have to walk though, any exercise can help you relieve yourself of gas.
