Teresa Lost 34kg On The Lady Shake

Share

My name is Teresa and I have been using The Lady Shake on and off for about five years, but I started my journey in May 2023 after having a discussion with my doctor about losing weight. He suggested I start intermittent fasting with a 6-hour eating window. So, my husband and I started with our eating window from 1pm-7pm daily. During the fasting period I drank only water and green tea. I set my realistic goal to get down to 70-75kg. This way I could still enjoy eating out and the occasional sweet treat.

When I first started the journey, I didn't have any alcohol for seven months and I also cut out processed sugar in my diet. I was surprised what an impact cutting out sugar had on my taste buds. When I reintroduced small amounts of sugar about five months into the diet, I found that things that I usually didn't find sweet enough were very tasty. I had previously tried eating protein bars and didn't like them as they weren't sweet enough, but to my surprise I quite enjoy them and have them as a sweet treat most days. Until cutting out sugar, I had no idea how addicted I was. I no longer crave sugary treats, which was a huge temptation for me.

As I started to lose weight, I started to increase my exercise as I had more energy. I started with going on small walks, 2-3km a few times a week, increasing the distance as I felt my energy levels increase with the weight loss. My back used to give me pain when I first started exercising and now, I have no pain. I also started doing weight training at home and have slowly increased the amount of weight I am able to lift. I now go on a 7km walk daily with running intervals. All the exercise I do is from home, no gym membership.

When I reached my target of 70kg in November 2023, I reset my goal to focus on increasing my muscle mass. I knew this was important as muscle burns more energy and would help me to keep the weight off long-term. I weigh myself every day and my scales tell me body weight and muscle mass. I use this information to track how I'm going. I'm happy with my progress of increasing my muscle mass, as a result I have continued to lose weight.

I currently weigh between 62-63kg, which is much lighter than I thought I could ever be. I have lost 34.5kg in a year. Not only have I surprised myself with what I have achieved, I have been the inspiration for others to start on their journey. I find that the most humbling thing as I have struggled with my weight for most of my adult life, so to be inspiring others is simply amazing. It has been great doing this with my husband as we have been a strong support system for each other.

I have a shake for lunch every day. My favourite flavour is Vanilla as I use it as a base for my fruit shake. My shake contains two scoops of The Lady Shake, two scoops Benefibre, two scoops of protein powder, three tablespoons of Yo-Pro protein yoghurt, iced water and frozen fruit.

I love the Mango shakes as they just taste like a smoothie. I use a Nutribullet to mix up my shake and make it the night before for work. I take my shake to work in an insulated bottle and it keeps it cold for a long time. Adding the fruit and using the insulated bottle has been the best way to make sure I enjoy my lunch shake. I will then have a protein-based snack for afternoon tea.

For dinner I will usually have tacos, fajitas, laksa, curry, spaghetti bolognese, a stir-fry or something like that. We make sure to put in at least two to three vegetables with dinner and use proteins like salmon, chicken or pork. As I continued to lose weight, I started adding in some desserts, often protein custards, sugar-free jelly, light ice cream (Skinny Cow, Weiss bars, and the Twisted range) or the Atkins chocolate bar.

I buy the Buy Three Get One Free pack and pick all Vanilla so I can create my own flavour combinations.

After using The Lady Shake I feel much lighter, and less tired and sore. I have so much more energy and a positive outlook on life. I feel I am able to do so many more things. My mental health has improved so much, and I think that is one of the most positive outcomes of my weight loss journey.

Give it a try and experiment to find out what works for you. I have tried and failed many times, but I think it’s a matter of being open minded and giving something a try. If you don't like it keep trying things until you find out what works for you. All the way through my journey I have continued to tell myself that consistency is what works. I found what worked for me and I have been consistent.
