We’re Here For Our Men

Share

We are a lot of things; partners, mothers, sisters, daughters, as well as the most effective influencers to the men in our lives. Who do they listen to the most? Us. Even though some days it doesn’t feel that way, they really are taking it in. Just like the footy stats, what we have to say does get considered to bring up at a later date.

So let’s make the most of our positive influence and look at ways we can support the health of our men:

Have a chat while driving

Sounds a little random? Well, we agree, but there’s some science behind the madness. Studies show that being side-by-side, rather than face-to-face is a more effective way to have tough conversations. You’ve got the support of the person beside you while making it easier to accept the silences that come from thinking about how you feel.

Book a check-up, together

Most men would rather go to the ballet than see a doctor. But putting off going to the docs isn’t something us ladies can tiptoe around. By waiting until it gets worse, our men are more at risk of developing serious conditions, like prostate cancer. Book an annual check-up for both of you to go together. Then soften the peer pressure with a promise of a coffee afterwards.

Give the men in your life a hug

The world would be a better place if we gave out more hugs! Whether it’s your husband, brother, father, or son, wrap your arms around them for a long and nourishing hug. Not only does a warm embrace lower your blood pressure and heart rate, it’s an awesome and simple way to show the men in your life that you care and that they matter.

Be a role model for healthy eating

Let’s be honest, ‘what’s for dinner’ is often the question that’s directed at us ladies, not the men. Why not run with it! Add meat-free Mondays into the mix, sneak in veggies into pasta dishes, and look to the Lady Shake recipe page for low-calorie dinner inspiration. And if healthy eating is gaining steam in your household, go for it and suggest the His and Hers Pack.
