How a Beach Photo and a Shake Changed Bec’s Life

From teen sports star to a time-poor mum, my weight loss journey has been full of surprises. I used to be that girl called "bones" in high school, lean, active, and constantly moving. But life happens. Marriage, kids, and my daughter’s chronic condition meant my own wellbeing got pushed aside. I slowly gained weight and stopped recognising myself. 

Then came a wake-up call in 2024: diagnosed with severe sleep apnoea at 108.5kg and a BMI of 35.8, I felt exhausted all the time. Even with better sleep from a CPAP machine, the weight wouldn’t budge. It all hit me when I saw our beautiful beach holiday photos. I didn’t see the sunsets or memories, I saw how much I had let myself go.

Right after Christmas, I saw an ad for The Lady Shake on Facebook. It felt doable, a shake for breakfast? Yes please! I ordered the trial pack and started Jan 3. At first, I wasn’t sold on the texture, but after joining The Lady Club on Facebook, I learned to tweak it, more water and a thick straw turned it into something that tasted just like a Maccas choc thick shake! 

I locked in my breakfast shake daily and built in better food habits: Lady Bars for snacks, prepped salads, hummus and carrot sticks, smaller dinner portions, and now Lady Shake soups in winter. I’ve hit every small goal I set from dropping 5kg to smashing 28kg. My gym journey started gently, then I added a PT and now I’m even running. Yes, running! Multiple times a week. 

The scales show a 28kg drop so far, but the real wins? Shopping in regular stores. Wearing goal clothes (and donating them again because they’re too big). Feeling that spring in my step. My thigh gap’s back, my energy is back, I am back. 

I’m proud to say I’ve inspired friends—and even my husband—to start their own shake journeys. And I’ll keep going until I hit my final goal of 75kg. 

My advice? Stay strong and plan ahead. Keep a Lady Bar in your bag, drink more water, batch-prep those healthy snacks, and use those shakes as your daily anchor. The Lady Shake didn’t just help me lose weight. It helped me find myself again.
